In every community, there's a story that echoes the need for both compassion and action. Today, we're sharing a story that has deeply moved us and led to a commitment that extends beyond our core business to touch the lives of those who nurture the future of our community: the children and staff at South Coast Head Start.
Several years ago, the South Coast Head Start community in Langlois faced an unimaginable loss. A staff member's life was tragically cut short due to the absence of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during a critical emergency. The incident left a lasting impact on the staff, marking a solemn reminder of how precious every moment can be.
Motivated by this incident and the yearly advice from their CPR instructor, Head Start realized the need for AEDs across all their sites. However, as a nonprofit, finding room in the budget for such a large expenditure was difficult. They had a Philips HeartStart Onsite AED at one location and wanted to equip all sites with this trusted model for uniformity and efficiency in emergencies.
When Kayla Pritchett, our office manager, heard this story and the clear need from South Coast Head Start, she knew it was within our power to help. In collaboration with Head Start Health Services Coordinator, Corey Wampler, Gib's RV donated 14 Philips HeartStart Onsite AED units — one for each site — ensuring that no matter where a staff member or child is, they will have the consistent, lifesaving technology within reach.
We're more than just a dealership at Gib's RV; we're neighbors, friends, and family to the people around us. This is our way of adding not just safety but also peace of mind to the incredible environment that Head Start creates for our community's children and those who guide them.
With every heartbeat, let's remember: we're all part of the same community, the same family. Together, we can create a safe space for all — because everyone's journey matters.
Safe travels, safe hearts.
